This road was once the drive to Lockleys, the estate that now houses Sherrardswood School. You can't get there on this road anymore, as the drive was cut off by the construction of the motorway. The building on the left was the North Lodge of Lockleys estate and there were once two pillars (only one survives) that supported the gates.
In this clip, Tony talks about Lockleys Lodge.
The drive to the right of this building was once the road to Hertford. In 1720, soon after building a grand new house, the owner of Lockleys had that road moved to the other end of the village (see Stop 7) and this became the private drive to Lockleys.
