This is a Bluetooth enabled RFID reader. The actual reader decodes 125 kHz EM4102 passive RFID tags and then transmits the tag id over the Bluetooth Serial Port Profile (SPP). In principle any device supporting Bluetooth SPP could connect to the Bluetooth RFID reader, and read tags as they are scanned.
In the attached YouTube video we use the Bluetooth RFID reader, connected to an Android phone, to read the tales associated with our RFID-tagged duck.
The basic design of the Bluetooth RFID reader came from an article on www.instructables.com
This device uses the CoreRFID ID 12 RFID reader linked to the BlueSMIRF Gold Bluetooth Modem. The device is powered by a 9 Volt battery regulated down to 5 Volts using a TS2950CT-5.0 Low Drop Out regulator.
