The insignia of HMS Repulse, which was launched on 4 November 1967. She was the last of her class remaining in service with the navy, being decommissioned in 1996.
This base for nuclear submarines was chosen during the Cold War, as providing deep but sheltered waters with quick access to the North Atlantic.
HMS Repulse carried Polaris nuclear missiles. You can see a Polaris missile at the National Museum of Flight at East Fortune.
