Douglas Haig and Red Poppy
Douglas Haig was born in Edinburgh in June 1861. Much controversy remains over Haig's battle tactics and their devastating consequences. Now his name is associated with the red poppy worn for Rememberance Day in November each year. He founded the British Legion in 1921.
