The Falls is a 2001 novel written by Ian Rankin. It focuses on the investigation of a student who goes missing in Edinburgh, with Rankin's synonymous Inspector Rebus being charged with finding her. The dolls in the exhibit were mentioned in the novel itself. They are replicas of the originals in the Museum, which were made for the TV film of the book.
