smallest mechanical calculator of the world
The Curta calculator is the smallest 4 operations mechanical calculator ever made. It's inventor is Curt Herzstark, an extremely gifted technician from an Austrian Jewish family. He finished the design of this machine as a prisoner in KZ Buchenwald in 1944. After WWII, he created a company CONTINA AG in Mauren, Liechtenstein, which built Curta machines up to 1970. The model exposed is the CURTA I. manufactured in August 1966 and used in some courses in economy in the LCD.
Kurt Herzstark (1902-1988) was a honorary citizen of Luxembourg, for having saved the life of a Luxembourg female prisoner in Buchenwald.

Lovely story. The ability of the creative mind to keep going in the most adverse of circumstances.
