Wilson Whiskey Bottle

Wilson Whiskey and our 28th President, Woodrow Wilson, share an interesting connection. Before being elected president in 1912, Wilson served as Governor of New Jersey. During his gubernatorial campaign, it became habit for Wilson’s aids to introduce him using the popular Whiskey slogan, “Wilson- That’s all!” This slogan stuck with Woodrow Wilson into his 1912 presidential campaign. His campaign song titled, “Wilson, That’s All,” cleverly caroled:

It's "Wilson, that's all, Wilson, that's all!"
Who strikes the public sentiment
Say who will be our President?
It's Wilson, that's all

Connecting Woodrow Wilson with an alcohol slogan, during a time when the Temperance movement was gaining ground, was a provocative choice. During his second term as president, Wilson ironically vetoed the Volstead Act. Wilson supported wartime
prohibition to ensure the nation had a “productive working class,” however the First World War was coming to a close and Wilson did not see the need for a national law. Congress overrode his veto, paving the way for the Eighteenth Amendment— better known as Prohibition.
